Something similar happened to me the other day after changing the host name.
Try starting chromium from a terminal (chromium-browser) and see whether you get an error message similar to this:
[3268
0313/234758.010253:ERROR:message_box_dialog.cc(146)] Unable to show a dialog outside the UI thread message loop: Chromium - The profile appears to be in use by another Chromium process (19145) on another computer (rpi4server). Chromium has locked the profile so that it doesn't get corrupted. If you are sure that no other processes are using this profile, you can unlock the profile and relaunch Chromium.
If so take a look in ~/.config/chromium for files (actually symbolic links) with names starting Singleton and delete them.
