In my experience it's not uncommon to find copy-and-paste changing the formatting; dropping or minimising white space, adding or removing newlines, replacing some characters with something else. It seems to depend on what the 'copy' and 'paste' actually does, what container it is copied from and into, what any clipboard thinks it is holding.

It may be better or worse when remotely copying between systems because you may be looking at a container which shows a container with different characteristics than the original has.

I sometimes revert to copying into Notepad, then copying that to the final target.

One solution may be write to a file then transfer that. It should be possible to create a file which gets imported how one wants it to look even if hoops have to be jumped through.

I don't have Thonny nor Word to hand to test myself.
