The problem with rotation showed up after switching from the Buster OS to the Bookworm OS. The last release with Buster was Kandinsky Edition. Picasso Edition was based on the Buster OS and there is no disk image for the Official 7" display for it.
I've tried many different configuration settings to rotate the Official display with Bookworm OS, nothing worked. Yes, in some cases it just shows the picture with three squares.
