Ok I've sort of figured it out. Has to do with the .side() pin settings. If I set the last 2 bits, the 9th bit and the stop bit to .side(1) for the address and .side(0) for the data it seems to work. What is strange is there needs to be a small delay in between calling the 2 puts otherwise they run into each other as observed on the logic analyzer. I'll need to study the side set some more to understand. If anyone has any comments I'm all ears.
