I've not had any problem with dying Pis - I've got 6 or 7 of various types that are powered up 24/7. That includes a Pi 1 which has been powered up and never rebooted for around 9 years. The others have been rebooted due to updates, and I've had some SD cards fail.
It may be relevant that (at least for the past few years) all my Pis have battery backed power supplies, so there's never an unexpected power fail. Also power supplies are either POE, or industrial-grade dc-dc converters. And I think none are using the I/O; just network port and sometimes TFT display.
Was the failed wall wart of reputable manufacture?
How many Pis are you running?
