That Waveshare panel is a DPI panel, and they use the ChipOne ICN6211 as a DSI to DPI bridge.Yeah, sure, DSI is a decent option here. But, AFAIK, RPi Zero lacks DSI and I also wanted to have a repurposable display to tinker with some other non-RPi MCUs.
Maybe there some kind of DPI-to-DSI bridge you can recommend that could be easily integrated with hobbyist amount of skill, so that on a MCU side it's still going to be a DPI interface, but the DSI on a display side (I guess in this case I can go with waveshare DSI) ?
The golden ribbon cable from the middle of their PCB will be DPI, but I have no information on the underlying panel or the pinout of that connector. You'd also need to build your own power circuitry for the panel and backlight.
